Machines FAQ’s

Can I "Try Before I Buy"?
Yes, we welcome all our customers to our either of our facilities at Caldicot or Swansea to view, inspect and try out any of our used/ new equipment for sale.

Is VAT Included In the listed website prices?
No, VAT is charged extra on all UK Sales. VAT is not charged on overseas Sales with valid proof of export and VAT details.

Is the delivery cost included in the listed website prices?
No- Delivery costs must be added to all website prices shown

Can AJ Access arrange for overseas, door to door shipping?
Yes- We currently export worldwide and take care of all shipping arrangements all new and used machines sold to overseas customers, door to door.

Can AJ Access accept part exchanges against New and/or Used machines?
Yes- We welcome part exchange units against both Sales of new and/or used machines, and we even buy used equipment without supplying replacement units.

 

Financial FAQ’s

What are AJ's standard terms or payment?
Our terms of payment for machine Sales are 10% deposit with order, and balance to be paid prior to delivery.

Do AJ Access offer Finance options?
Yes- We would be happy to arrange for finance options including Contract Hire, Lease Hire and Lease Purchase schemes.

 

Training FAQ’s

It is an employer’s legal responsibility to provide formal training for ALL operators of MEWP'S (Mobile Elevation Work Platforms).  This is set in legislation by the PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) and as such, employers are responsible to ensure it happens and they will usually be responsible for paying.

What is IPAF Training?
IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) training is the industry standard for training and is recognised by all major contractors and enforcing authorities.

What machine can I work with if I pass?
Trainees are licensed to operate all machines within the categories they have been trained on- i.e. - Self Propelled Booms or Scissor Lifts.

How long will the course take?
Operator and Demonstrator training is offered- Operator usually 1 day and Demonstrator usually 2 days.

How much will it cost? Can we get a group discount?
The price for Operator Training is £175 per person  and Demonstrator Training £250 per person .  Group discounts are available upon request.

Where would the training take place?
Training is available at our Caldicot or Swansea depots, or on site anywhere within Europe by prior arrangement.

If I pass, how long is the license valid for?
The license is valid for 5 years, until a refresher course is required.

 

Maintenance FAQ’s

Will I get an instruction manual and test certificates with my new/used machine(s)?
Yes- All of our new and used machines sold are supplied with full owner documentation packages including; Operating and Maintenance Manual, Service Manuals, Spares Manuals, LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) certificates, Inspection Certificates and PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) reports. For Machines sold in Europe post 1997 CE Certification is also provided.

What is LOLER certificate? What does it stand for?
LOLER stands for Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations; it is a 6 monthly certificate of inspection for your machine(s)

How often do I need a LOLER inspection?
The minimum requirement as stated by HSE is every 6 months carried out by a competent person. Please refer to our Health & Safety Regulations Update in the publications section.
