October 2007- Stolen Skyjack 4632 Scissor Lift

Unfortunately we have to report the theft of a New Skyjack 4632 Scissor Platform from our Castle Way, Caldicot rental yard during last night 12th October 2007. The criminals had pulled down metal palisade fencing and dragged the scissor along the rear of our Industrial unit at 8A Castle Way smashing Air Conditioning units in order to make room to remove the Scissor Platform from the yard. The unit was then removed from site on a self loading vehicle

The Scissor Platform is Serial number 70000726 purchased from Skyjack UK in August of this year.
Any one being offered this unit or with any information should contact Gwent Police (Caldicot) – PC Nicola Davies on 01291-430999.

I attach a photo of a similar unit in our yard.

I would be grateful if you would give maximum publicity in order to prevent easy disposal of a valuable item.

September 2007- New flagship aircraft maintenance facility in Jordan, now ‘Up & Flying’ with help from AJ Access Platforms Ltd

A package of 8 new and refurbished powered access platforms incorporating a mixture of Genie Electric scissor lifts, Skyjack Diesel RT scissor lifts and Nifty Bi Fuel self propelled booms have just been delivered to one of AJ Access Platform’s latest overseas customers for use in their brand new aircraft maintenance facility, based in the middle east.

Neil Wilkinson explains ‘Following an initial enquiry and subsequent visit by our customer to our Caldicot Sales facility, we identified a number of self propelled scissor lifts and booms that would suit both our customer’s maintenance issues and commercial requirements. As the platforms could be used for a number of different tasks, hanger maintenance, aircraft checks and critical A.O.G (Aircraft On Ground) repairs for example, the overall value of the deal to our customer was very well received indeed’.

Included in the scope of supply was AJ’s ‘Door to Door’ delivery service that included the coordinating of all customs clearance paperwork, making the whole buying experience as seamless as possible.

September 2007- Sales Director Appointed

AJ Access Platforms has appointed Jonathan Hull as our new Sales Director, joining the company as of September 2007. Jonathan Hull, who has spent the last 12 years with Genie UK as a Sales Manager, brings with him a vast amount of experience from a major supplier in the access equipment business.

Jonathan Hull will head up the Sales of capital equipment both new and used for the UK, and will bring to the company a professionalism in the equipment Sales that we see as being essential to the companys future development in both the home and overseas markets.

August 2007- New Appointment at AJ Access Platforms

A J Access Platforms Ltd is delighted to have appointed John Swift to its board of Directors with immediate effect.
John has been with A J Access for a number of years and has been responsible for Rental of Powered Access covering both operations in Swansea and its Caldicot locations.
John is a well known and well liked Platform Industry veteran and is currently chairman of the Access Link.

John has developed our Access Platform Rental business and has been instrumental in its rapid growth. He is to be congratulated on his appointment and further strengthens the board at AJ.

July 2007- AJ On To Another Winner

AJ Access was on to another winner recently, as 3 year old colt Elna Bright romped in at the home of horse racing- Newmarket. AJ Access, who sponsors the horse, saw champion jockey Ryan Moore bring home the companies winning colours. Elna Bright had won two weeks earlier at Brighton, giving champion jockey Ryan Moore his first winner after returning from injury. After only 4 runs Elna Bright has recorded 2 wins, a second and a third.

The other horse currently sponsored by AJ Access is Caradoc Place, another 3 year old colt, who is currently undergoing an operation to make him two stone lighter and keep his mind off the fillies and on his racing.

Keep an eye out for the winning name and colours on Channel 4 and the Racing Channel.

AJ Access Platforms in partnership with Sexton Construction have recently supplied powered access equipment to the new £1 Billion MOD Garrison facility at Colchester.

After initial telephone calls to various access companies, Mr. Revill, Contracts Director of Sexton, finally decided to pursue the option of purchasing powered access for the Colchester Garrison project. To be used initially for the explosives storage areas and also in the vehicle garage facilities for construction and later on for mechanical and electrical works.

Neil Wilkinson, Sales Manager at AJ Access explains “After receiving the initial enquiry from Sexton, we supported Mr. Revill by providing accurate and timely information on all commercial and technical aspects to meet their access requirements. It was finally decided that one of our ‘pre-owned’ Nifty Heightrider 12 narrow width bi-energy self propelled booms and Genie GS1930 narrow width electric scissor lift’s were to be supplied, fully serviced, tested and inspected with new LOLER certificates and repainted, as new, in their very own corporate colour’s.

Mr. Revill also comment’s “Working with AJ’s we have found good value for money, experienced a positive responsiveness to our needs and benefited from the usefulness of their new website when searching for and comparing details of the many used access platforms on the market.”

16th March 2007 - AJ Access assist Channel 4's 'Time Team' with local dig

AJ Access were able to provide an all round access solution for Channel 4 this week when Tony Robinson and his 'Time Team' visited Caldicot to investigate the field adjacent to the local church. We were able to provide them with IPAF Training and also the rental of two machines that would be suitable for the muddy rough terrain that the team faced.

Paul Mather of our Rental Department met with one of the archaeologists to discuss their requirements "Kerry was looking for both a telescopic and scissor platform to enable Tony and the cameracrew to gain an overhead view of the digs. Even though the terrain was uneven and muddy we were able to provide them with two rough terrain access platforms perfect for the job in hand."
