The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) have developed guidelines aimed specifically at Access Equipment Users. The Work at height Access Equipment Toolkit (or WAIT for short) is targeted at reducing the number of serious injuries and fatalities that occur as a result of falls from height (since 2001 the average, per year, is 8,702 injuries and 50 fatalities).
Don't let a fall shatter your life!
If you don't work at height very often or are unsure about which type of access equipment to use, it's important that you assess the risks and select the right equipment for the job. WAIT - (Work at height Access equipment Information Toolkit) shows you some possible solutions.
What you must do
The Work at Height Regulations aim to prevent deaths and injuries caused each year by falls at work.
They apply to all work at height where it is likely someone will be injured if they fall.
The regulations set out three simple rules for work at height:
Any work at height MUST;
Do not attempt to carry out any work at height in unsuitable weather conditions (eg wind, rain or ice!)
If you are going to work at height you should be trained and competent, and be able to;
If you are still being trained you should be supervised by a fully trained and competent person.
Please don't allow yourself, or your staff to become another HSE statistic. If you have any queries regarding the selection of the correct machine, or you are looking for IPAF, PASMA or any other safety training, please contact us directly on 01291 421155 or email info@accessplatforms.com
